DS Sunset in St. Tropez (Mass Market Paperback)
A long-planned vacation in St. Tropez goes wrong in any number of ways in this latest platinum-frosted amusement by Steel. Three pairs of friends in their 50s and 60s decide to spend a month together in the south of France, but before the trip, tragedy strikes two of the couples. Judge Robert Smith loses his beloved wife, Anne, and Diana Morrison discovers that her obstetrician husband, Eric, is having an affair with a much younger patient, though Diana's "minor cosmetic surgery... had knocked ten years off her age." John Donnally, an irascible investment banker, and his French wife, Pascale, a former ballerina, try to do what they can to keep everyone's spirits up. The friends eventually convene in St. Tropez, but the house that looked so perfect in the marketing photos is far from what they expected, and it takes Herculean effort by Pascale and the eccentric caretakers to get it up to snuff. Robert has a new love interest visit, though it is only seven months since his wife's death, and she, to the chagrin of the ladies, is an actress many years his junior. Will the friends' relationship survive these changes? The answer is a foregone conclusion, and the frills and froth of the packaging can't quite conceal the silliness of some of the goings-on, but Steel fans will lap this up. ...and return unread. I considered Accident by Danielle Steel. I have read several of her books before. Some have been really good (Mirror Image, for example) but others have been awful (Summer’s End), so I doubted I would be missing anything special. Just to check out my suspicions, I began to read a couple of pages. Before long, I realised I had read over a hundred pages – almost a third of the whole novel! So I persevered and finally ......them. The events surrounding the accident are well described – not too vividly for those with weak stomachs – and you become enthralled, eager to know what’s going to happen. Unfortunately, after all the excitement of the first third, the novel slows down and ends up becoming dull and predictable. The arrival of Page’s mother and sister seems to be nothing but a bit of padding and an excuse to throw another semi-controversial ..

ABOUT THIS BOOK In Danielle Steel's forty-eighth bestselling novel, a Hollywood wedding sets the scene for a vivid portrayal of a prominent family whose hopes and fears are as real as our own.Simon Steinberg and Blaire Scott are among the most respected couples in Hollywood. Simon, a major movie producer, and Blaire, an award-winning television writer, have defied the Hollywood cliches, keeping their marriage together for decades. Their three children—aspiring teenage model Samantha, pre-med student Scott, and entertainment lawyer Allegra—are successful and happy but must face the challenges we fear for our own children as well.As an attorney for the stars, twenty-nine-year-old Allegra Steinberg is used to handholding her celebrity clients through their tangled lives and loves, negotiating major movie deals, and fielding phone calls at all hours of the day and night. But with a career that consumes so much of her time, Allegra has little time for a private life. Until a chance encounter with a New York writer turns Allegra's life upside down. And suddenly, she finds herself planning a wedding at her parents' Bel Air home.As preparations begin for a September ceremony, the chaos of last-minute arrangements, surprise announcements, and ever-increasing anxiety brings out both the best and the worst in everyone. But as couples in each generation of the Steinberg family struggle with broken vows and new hopes, the real meaning of Allegra's wedding emerges. For the bride, the ceremony is a bridge between her past and her future. For her parents, it is a reminder of the bond that holds them all together. And for both families, it is an opportunity for reconciliation, forgiveness, and new hope for the future, as weddings often are for us all.In a compelling portrait of real people in an unreal world, Danielle Steel uses Hollywood as a backdrop to reveal the dreams, the fears, and the expectations of a ceremony that unites us all—from movie stars to long-married couples to nervous teenagers—and changes the lives of real men, women, and families forever...The Wedding. From the author of HEARTBEAT, JEWELS and THE GHOST, a novel set in 1902, featuring a motherless young girl who arrives in Russia and becomes a great ballerina who is welcomed into the heart of the Imperial family. However, war, revolution and illness upset her life, and force her to make a heartbreaking choice.

Danielle Steel: Granny dan
Granny Dan is a story within a story, and a relatively short book. A young woman discovers the story of her grandmother's life after the death of her beloved Granny Dan. The papers and letters transferred to the granddaughter provide insight on her granny when she was a young woman living an interesting life as a premier ballerina. The story is set in Russia around the time of the revloution and there is plenty of royalty to keep you interested...but reading about the love of Granny's life (who is not grandpa!) is what will keep the pages turning. What is interesting about Granny Dan is how this book prompts you to think about those in your own life. Many of us know and think of our grandparents or other older adults in our life as just that...older people. But many of these individuals have interesting stories to tell; it is true they were young too!

Lindsay Wagner, ex-Bionic Woman and queen of the TV movie, plays Daphne Fields, an author reluctant to love again after her husband and daughter are killed in a fire. DATING GAME, 2 April 2004
A very heart warming book. On the back cover it states that it is "wickedly funny", I didn't think it was. If you liked Francesca's Party, by Patricia Scanlan, then you will like this. I found many similarities between the story lines. One of the things I did like about it, is that the ending was not predictable. Definitely worth a read.
The Dating Game (Paperback)
This has to be the best novel Danielle Steele has written. It has everything, I laughed, I cryed and I couldn't put the book down. The story was so unpredictable, just as you thought you knew where the story was leading, the author hit you with another unpredictable twist. This was so refreshing, as so many of Danielle Steele's novels you can predict the ending half way through the book. I was just disapointed when the book ended, I felt that I knew people in the book, and wanted to know what happened next.

Cottage
In her fifty-fourth bestselling novel, Danielle Steel weaves a compelling story of fame and friendship, charmed lives and private struggles...and of three very different men whose lives converge and collide at The Cottage. On a sunny day in Hollywood, a gleaming Rolls-Royce convertible pulls through the gates of the magnificent estate known as The Cottage. Modeled after the “cottages” of Newport, Rhode Island, the spacious, elegant property, sitting on fourteen acres of lush Bel Air, fits its owner to a T. For the man behind the wheel of the Rolls is Hollywood’s ageless wonder, Cooper Winslow. A star of the silver screen for decades, a man whose allure to women is the stuff of legend, Coop exudes grace, charm, and old-fashioned style. But today Coop Winslow is in for a major surprise. He’s broke. And with no major roles coming his way, Coop is faced with the heartbreaking prospect of selling his beloved home of forty years, or at least renting out the gatehouse and part of the main house. A huge blow to Coop, whose debonair attitude allows him to escape reality much of the time. His new tenants, Mark Friedman and Jimmy O’Connor, are busy coping with problems of their own. Mark’s wife of sixteen years just walked out, and Jimmy recently lost his own wife to a devastating illness. But everything changes when Mark’s teenage son and daughter move in. Suddenly, The Cottage is transformed, with music blasting from every corner, teenagers on skateboards crashing into vintage cars, and a never-ending parade of young starlets streaming in and out to visit Coop. But amid all the noise and the chaos, something unexpected is happening. Three men who never would have met are becoming friends...and each man finds himself changing in surprising ways, Coop most of all. Because beneath the dazzle and flash, the impeccably tailored suits and the sheer bravado, is a man trying to keep control of his carefully ordered world–a world that is becoming more and more unpredictable with each passing day. First, a tabloid scandal erupts, threatening Coop’s budding romance with a wealthy debutante. . .A stranger approaches Coop with stunning news....A devastating accident almost claims the life of one of the housemates....And in the midst of it all, The Cottage welcomes a new houseguest with a secret of her own, who will change Coop’s life in unexpected ways. Because among the people who share his cottage and his life, Coop Winslow–loner, bachelor, movie star–may find the rarest of all opportunities: a chance to build a happiness he could never have dreamed of on his own, and to become the kind of human being he has never been. Against a glittering backdrop of celebrity and glamour, Danielle Steel digs deeper to tell a story of friendship and love, tragedy and second chances...of the choices and unexpected turns of fate that can shape characters and lives.

Granny Dan Steel
In my eyes she had always been old, always been mine, always been Granny Dan. But in another time, another place, there had been dancing, people, laughter, love. . . . She had had another life before she came to us, long before she came to me. . . . She was the cherished grandmother who sang songs in Russian, loved to roller-skate, and spoke little of her past. But when Granny Dan died, all that remained was a box wrapped in brown paper, tied with string. Inside, an old pair of satin toe shoes, a gold locket, and a stack of letters tied with ribbon. It was her legacy, her secret past, waiting to be discovered by the granddaughter who loved her but never really knew her. It was a story waiting to be told. . . . The year was 1902. A new century was dawning as a motherless young girl arrived at a ballet school in St. Petersburg, Russia, at the age of seven. By age seventeen, Danina Petroskova had become a great ballerina, a favorite of the Czar and Czarina, who welcomed her into the heart of the Imperial family. But events both near and far away shook the ground upon which she danced. A war, an extraordinary man, and a devastating illness altered the course of her life. And when revolution shattered Russia, Danina Petroskova was forced to make a heartbreaking choice--as the world around her was about to change forever.Granny Dan is about the magic of history. In it, Danielle Steel reminds us how little we know of those who came before us--and how, if we could only glimpse into their early lives, and see who they once were, there is so much we would understand and learn. For in this extraordinary novel, a simple box, filled with mementos from a grandmother, offers the greatest legacy of all: an unexpected gift of a life transformed, a long-forgotten history of youth and beauty, love and dreams.

Danielle Steel Speaks About Candy for the Soul:For me, there is always something simultaneously humorous and poignant about daily life. Just when I want to rip my hair out, a child touches my heart; just when I am laughing hardest, someone makes me cry, and just when I give up all hope that life will ever be sane, someone gives me a hug, and it all makes sense again. The roller coaster ride of life, a constant potion of heartbreak, happiness, laughter and tears. I tried to share my own experiences with that in "Candy for the Soul".
Fünf Tage in Paris

His Royal Highness treats his daughter, Princess Christianna, like a pet poodle. His Royal Highness apparently sees no wrong in his son's spoiled behavior and merely laughs off his son's "toying" with women. What hypocrites both His Royal Highness and the Prince are: it makes for a wonderful story as Christianna sees the light, understands what true duty is and she gets right. I love a book where women triumph. Steele is growing into a more reflective writer and successfully intertwining important issues of the world into her novels: this provides the reader with the charm of romance combined with the duty of humanity. AIDS in Africa and very interesting insight presented in Christianna's (aka Cricky when in Africa) tour with the American Red Cross. Terrific book and maybe too good; could not put it down until I finished it. I trust that most will have the same problem. Hey, it's a great world when women can be princesses, leaders and humanitarians at the same time.

Danielle Steel

Przekonuje żonę, by pozwoliła mu wrócić do domu.
